Mining resistance in Luetzerath

By end of 2022 the small town of Lützerath in the Rhineland becomes the focal point of the conflict between climate activists and the government: it is the last village to be demolished to make way for lignite mining underneath.

I visited the climate activists in Lützerath to understand what drives them, what these – mostly young – people are sacrificing for their dreams and views, and to see how they are preparing for the final battle – they fear that the police eviction will take place in the near future.
